Ok, well, since I was the one who came up with the idea, I suppose I should get something up here concerning that. First of all, a general character description and story line. If anyone wants more detail, tell me, and I'll try to get to it asap!

Joys of Duct Tape

Character descriptions

Sam- Samantha, the main character of the stories. She's simpleminded, but not stupid. Simple pleasures for simple minds. When she encounters problems, most of her solutions involve duct tape.

Mr. President - The president of the club Sam is part of. He's extremely friendly and chatty, almost to a fault. He often refers problems to Sam.

Mice - Sam's pet dog. A young, medium sized dog. Like a typical dog, he likes eating anything he can get his teeth on, playing fetch, and sleeping a lot.

Duck - A random duck that makes it's appearance.

Story line Summary

Story 1

Mr. President walks up to talk to Sam about something. He starts off by greeting her and starting off the topic. Sam fades out of the conversation into an imagination. She imagines duct taping Mr. President's face up, so he can't talk anymore. She pops back into real life when Mr. President calls her name. When asked if she's ok, she smiles, assures him that all is well, then skips off.

Between the stories - as a brief intermission, I thought it'd be cool to have Sam following a duck, duct tape in hand, chanting "Ducky Ducky Ducky".

Story 2

Mr. President walks up to Sam, saying "we have a problem." Apparently, one of the computers for the club is on the fritz. Sam offers to take a look at it. As Sam starts tearing apart the computer insides, Mr. President watches on, first looking easy going, then confused, and finally just shocked. When Sam is finished with the computer, it's covered in duct tape. Some is even sticking out of the inside. However, when they turn it on, it works better than before.

Brief intermission. Maybe have Mice join in following the duck.

Story 3

Sam comes home after a long day of school. When she enters her house, there's trash all over the place. "Mice!!!!" she shouts. Then the dog is shown in the kitchen, the trash can knocked over. Sam is mad, then looks devious. The next scene shows her sitting at the tv, wondering if Mice learned his lesson. In the kitchen, Mice is duct taped into the trash can and is rolling around.

End - Sam catches the duck, but instead of using the duct tape, she raises it over her head on top of the duct tape roll.

Roll Credits.

So, is there a particular style for the characters at all?

I was hoping for a cartooney look. Not as extreme as something like the Fairly Odd Parents, but not as developed as anime.

So as Co-Writer, I sorta wanted to toss in an idea that I have too...

To sorta go with what Jen already said (and to make the project aim more towards our 30 minute goal), I was thinking that maybe 'The Joys of Duct Tape' could be more of a parody of ourselves and Animation Club itself. For example, Sam could be an overblown parody of Jen, Mr. President could be an overblown parody of Sreyeesh, etc. However, I was thinking that not only can a few of us had characters modeled after ourselves, but we can all eventually have daydreams that involve duct tape.

For example, I was figuring that I could have a parody of myself named Kyle. He's sarcastic, overly annoyed by the simplest things, and has quite the ultra-violent meanstreak in his mind, though far too intimidated to actually do anything about it. His fntasy is pretty much a parody of "Die Hard", with Kyle acting the John McClane role. Everyone else in "Duct Tape Club" is captured by an international terrorist who happens to look like Lance (I asked him, and he's cool with it. Don't worry :P), as Kyle drops from the air vent and kicks the Lance look alike by swinging on a long piece of duct tape, sending him out a window and to a 40 foot fall to his death. Kyle imemdiatly tunes back into reality, looking over at the 'nemesis' of his fantsy with an evil smile, immediatly freaking the student out.

Another one will be Tiffany, a parody of one of our newer members, Brittany. She is a rather quiet girl who does her own thing, but deep down, she wants to live a romantic and care-free life. Her fantasy will consist of her running in slow motion through a field of dasies on a bright, sunny day, running to a giant roll of duct tape with arms and legs as they embrace eachother, the tape picking Tiffany up and twirling her around adoringly before she too is brought back into reality.

I'd also like to have yet another scene with Jeff (or 'The Teacher' who happens to look alot like Jeff) standing in the back of the room against the wall, bored silly by Mr. President's driviling. His fantasy will simply be a thought bubble, the teacher imagining himself sleeping. However, the thought bubble teacher will actually have a thought bubble of his own, imagining a cartoon cow playing the ukulele (somewhat stolen from the Simpsons, but...whatever).

We can do a few more fantasies, but the final one will be of Mr. President, still standing there, talking away to the point where he is actually bored by his own words, having a fantasy of his own. His consists of him simply sitting on the floor, rolling a roll of duct tape back and forth, looking up into the camera, and simply saying "Wee."

If anyone has any questions or comments, please lemme know. it's the only way I'll learn. :P

Chris I think your idea is really interesting and funny. What we need to do is sit down with Jen and discuss the plan of action. It's already November and I would like at least one part of the animation process done. I would the pre-production to be done before thanksgiving. Let me know what you think.

Good luck finding me time. I have work over lab and club this Friday as well. I like Chris' ideas.
